“My oil on panel portraits are built on the potential for allegory. I borrow my visual language from the “”magical realism”” of poets and authors such as Gabriel Garcia Marquez, as well as the formal traditions of Orthodox Iconography and classical painting. Through these lenses, I explore the Divine, the quiet weight of the Soul, and the fundamentally mystical nature of our existence.
In this exhibit, I expand these themes to include Love perhaps the concept most worthy of a grand narrative. Whether it’s the gravity of romantic love, an expansive care for others, or the internal journey toward self-acceptance, the word carries a complexity that resonates within us all. It triggers deep-seated emotions, memories and even sensorial or somatic reverberations.
In this exhibit, each portrait serves as a catalyst an invitation to sit with the emotions and sensations that have shaped your own life. Its my hope that by pulling at the threads of this “”rich tapestry,”” a profound sense of beauty might emerge. Ultimately, I want these works to inspire a renewed devotion to others, to ourselves, and to the vibrant pulse of life itself.”
