I design and create wooden purses that are digitally designed and precision cut with a laser. I hand-sand, stain, and poly-treat each piece of wood to enhance its natural beauty before being cut and engraved by a laser. Using a specialized cutting technique, I create a ‘living hinge’ that allows the wood to bend without breaking, adding both function and artistry to the design. The pieces are then assembled and reinforced with premium cyanoacrylate for lasting durability. The interior is lined with laser engraved leatherette, offering a refined contrast to the structured wood exterior.
While the hardware and purse straps are not designed or handmade by me, they serve as the perfect finishing touches. The contrast between the warmth of the wood and the sleekness of the metal enhances the purse’s sophistication, seamlessly blending natural and industrial elements. The strap adds the final personal touch, allowing each owner to choose a style that complements their aesthetic and makes the piece uniquely theirs. Each purse is distinct, whether through its design, color combination, or the natural grain patterns of the wood ensuring that no two are exactly alike. Part of that distinction is also in the woods natural imperfections, which I embrace, seeing them as marks of character and beauty, much like the small flaws that make each of us unique. My purses are the result of transforming a simple plywood board into something both functional and beautiful, making them a natural fit for the wood category.
