My work is an exploration in the arrangement of color and pattern by exclusively using 1 inch leather triangles to create each composition. The triangles are made with 100% genuine leather that is procured from both upcycled and new sources. They are cut and trimmed with a rotary blade and straight edge then arranged in patterns and abstract compositions. Work begins by establishing a color palette and initial pattern. Then colors are adjusted intuitively to create a gradient progression or to enhance contrast and create the illusion of dimension. When the composition is finalized, each individual triangle is mounted onto a gallery wrapped canvas where it is aligned edge to edge with its neighbors leaving no empty space between them. Finally, a solid leather frame is adhered to the edges of the canvas.
